Photography became my language
After studying Business Administration at the University of Macedonia, I found my voice and purpose through photography.
Filmmaker · Photographer · Visual storyteller
I’m Vaios Vitos, based in Thessaloniki, Greece. I work across conservation filmmaking, photography and videography to create images that connect people with nature.
About me
My work is driven by a deep connection to the natural world and a belief that powerful imagery can inspire awareness, emotional connection and meaningful conservation action.
I specialise in wildlife, nature and landscape storytelling, always with a strong ethical foundation. For me, making an image is not simply about documenting beauty. It is about communicating the value, fragility and urgency of the living world.
Photography and filmmaking are creative practices, but they are also ways of bearing witness, fostering empathy and strengthening the bond between people and the planet.

From stills to motion
My path into photography began at 24. Early professional work in one of Thessaloniki’s leading photography stores gave me a strong technical and commercial foundation, but my real passion was always outside: in nature, wildlife and landscape.
Filmmaking became a natural extension of that journey. Image, movement, sound and atmosphere allowed me to build more immersive and emotionally layered stories, and became essential to the way I approach conservation communication today.

Workshops and field experience
I organise private and small-group photography workshops and photo trips, with a particular focus on Lake Kerkini and its remarkable Dalmatian Pelicans.
The aim is not only technical improvement. These are shared field experiences built around ethical practice, connection and the different ways each photographer learns to see.

Professional engagement
I previously served on the board of the Union of Professional Photographers and Videographers of Central Macedonia and represented the Union in the Greek Federation of Photographers as Secretary.
I continue my involvement as a regular member, contributing to the professional conversations and shared responsibilities of the photographic community.

Through every editorial, photographic or cinematic project, my goal remains the same: to create work that is visually compelling, emotionally resonant and grounded in genuine respect for the natural world.
