The Capture Greece Nature Photo Competition is an annual international photo competition celebrating Greek Nature. Submit your best landscape, wildlife and nature photographs for a chance to win recognition and great prizes.
The photo competition is both for amateurs and professional photographers. The only restriction is that all images must be taken in Greece.
The categories of the Capture Greece Nature Photo Competition, are:
- Landscapes (images of landscapes, night sky, seascapes, mountains etc. Please send only images capturing Nature, no Urban landscapes or man made structures).
- Animals (images of birds, mammals, underwater creatures)
- Macro (images of any kind of the microworld like bugs, or details of animals and plants)
- Youth (photographers under 18)
This photo competition is committed to ethical practices in nature and wildlife photography. Please review the official rules regarding what is not allowed and what is.
Competition Rules
Submitting your images in this competition means you accept each one of the rules and the final decision of the jury. The Rules shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Greece.
Image Copyright
Ownership of the copyright in any entry submitted to the Capture Greece Photo Competition will remain with the copyright owner/photographer.
By entering the Capture Greece Photo Competition, photographer confirms that the images entered are his/her original work, he/she is the sole owner of the copyright and that there are no third party claims. The photographer is responsible for obtaining official permits when applicable.
It is the photographer responsibility to obtain releases and consents in written form, from any persons appear in the photograph or if objects in the photograph are subject to the rights of third parties, for submitting to this photo competition and publishing, exhibiting. Especially for people appearing in the images, it is the photographer’s responsibility to ensure that the images have been taken with the consent of any person is identifiable in them or with the consent of their parent/guardian.
The photographer may be held liable for any damage that the Capture Greece Photo Competition and its creator Vaios Vitos may experience due to the lack of necessary release forms or missing permits.
Images of the finalists and awarded images may be used to promote Capture Greece Photo Competition, for a period of five years since the public announcement of the results, including but not limited in publications or exhibitions, in the form of print or online, in social media of all kinds, displaying the name of the photographer and provided that the context of the Capture Greece Photo Competition is clearly indicated.
In case of inquiries by third parties for using images, I will send details of the photographer to the interested party.
Entry in the Competition
The Competition is open to anyone except individuals (and their partners and family) involved in its organization or judging.
- Images must present the natural world in a way that is both honest and ethical. That means that entries must not deceive the viewer (fake skies, digital addition of elements,).
- You must not do anything to injure or distress an animal or a plant. Live baiting is not permitted.
- The images must be created in compliance with any applicable national or international legislation
Submissions must be in digital format, as JPEGs, with the longest side 1920 pixels, max 2MB, without borders, watermarks or signatures. Your name must not appear anywhere on the image or the filename. Caption information must be complete and accurate: title, description, exact location. Photographs must have been created during 2023.
If your image is selected as a finalist, you will be required to provide the Raw file and maybe some of ‘before’ and ‘after’ images.
Editing
- These edits are not allowed: moving, adding or removing objects of any kind from the images.
- These edits are allowed: adjustments of tone, contrast, burning, dodging, cropping, sharpening, noise reduction, removal of sensor dust, removal of chromatic aberration, stitched panoramas, focus stacking.
You can submit your images until 15 of January 2024.

- Selection of the finalists: 10 of February 2024
- Asking for original files from finalists: 10 of February 2024
- Final Round, choosing winners (4 category winners and Grand winner): 10 of March 2024
- Notification of Winners: 10 of March 2024
- Public announcement of the winners: 15 of March 2024
- Voting period for People’s Choice Award: 16-31 of March
- Announcement of the People’s Choice Award: 2 of April
Judging
A panel of experts will select the finalists and award the winner in each category, and also pick the grand winner.
Prizes
The list of prizes is available on the page of the Competition. They are non-transferable. I reserve the right, at my convenience, to substitute the whole or part of any listed prize with an alternative of equal monetary value or equal publicity value (but you shall not have any right to demand this).
Personal data
Photographer allows me to collect personal data about him/her (and your parent/guardian where applicable) at the time of registration, for the Competition, the Exhibitions and/or all associated activities.
