Winter is widely regarded as the finest period to photograph the lake’s iconic pelicans. The birds are in breeding condition, displaying their striking orange-red throat pouches, while the soft winter light, frequent mist, dramatic skies and calm waters create ideal conditions for wildlife photography.
A Small-Group Experience
Unlike larger photography tours, Το Βασίλειο των Πελεκάνων is designed for very small groups, with a maximum of four photographers.
This allows every participant to enjoy:
- Plenty of space in the boat.
- Individual photographic guidance.
- Better positioning for each scene.

What You Can Photograph
During the workshop participants will have opportunities to photograph:
- Dalmatian Pelicans (and usually some Great White Pelicans) in flight.
- Close portraits of Pelicans at eye level.
- Great Cormorants.
- Pygmy Cormorants.
- Kingfishers (depending on conditions).
- Wintering birds around the lake.
- Beautiful winter landscapes and atmospheric sunrise scenes.
Every outing is adapted to the weather and wildlife activity to maximize photographic opportunities.
