My Cameras and lenses
In 2023 I made the switch to the Sony system, aquaring two sony Cameras (Sony a7 IV and Sony a7 III.) and two great Sony lenses.
Sony a7 IV, a versatile hybrid camera, has significantly enhanced my ability to produce striking photos and videos. Its autofocus is top-notch, and the quality of the RAW image files is superb. Sony has really stepped up their game with the color science in this camera model, marking a significant improvement.
The Sony a7 III stands out as an exceptional camera, equipped with a Full Frame sensor that delivers outstanding performance, particularly in low-light conditions. This camera’s strength lies not only in its ability to capture crisp, clear images when lighting is less than ideal but also in its highly efficient autofocus system.
The Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS lens excels in wildlife photography, offering a broad zoom range, outstanding image clarity, and effective autofocus, ideal for capturing intricate and lively wildlife scenes. Its Optical SteadyShot stabilization and weather-sealed build, coupled with teleconverter compatibility, make it versatile in different settings. Additionally, its manageable weight and size facilitate ease of handling. This lens is a crucial tool for wildlife photographers prioritizing dependable quality in their work.
My Drones
I am a certified drone operator registered with the Greek Aviation Authorities, holding an operator’s license. I operate a DJI Mini 3 Pro and a DJI Air 3, both of which are insured in compliance with Greek law.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a remarkable tool in aerial photography and videography, offering an impressive balance of size, performance, and quality. As a compact and lightweight drone, it stands out for its ease of use and portability, making it an ideal choice for capturing stunning aerial shots in a variety of settings. The Mini 3 Pro is equipped with a 1/1.3-inch sensor capable of shooting 4K video and capturing 48MP photos, ensuring high-resolution output even in challenging lighting conditions. Its enhanced obstacle sensing and avoidance systems provide peace of mind when navigating through complex environments, allowing me to focus on creative shot composition. Additionally, the extended battery life and improved transmission system of the Mini 3 Pro make it more reliable for longer shoots, providing ample time to capture the perfect shot without worrying about frequent landings for battery swaps.
On the other hand, the DJI Air 3 is a versatile drone featuring a 1/1.3″ CMOS medium tele & wide-angle dual primary camera system. It offers a maximum flight time of 46 minutes and includes omnidirectional obstacle sensing for safety. The drone supports DJI O4 20km HD video transmission and is capable of taking dual-camera 48MP photos and 4K/60fps HDR videos. This makes it highly suitable for a wide range of video production needs, offering both high-quality imaging and extended operational flexibility.
My action cameras
As a cinematographer and videographer, the Insta360 X4 has become an essential tool in my kit. Its compact size and versatile 360-degree capabilities allow me to capture immersive, dynamic footage in even the most challenging environments. The improved stabilization and AI-powered features of the X4 make it easy to create smooth, high-quality video content, whether I’m shooting fast-moving wildlife, expansive landscapes, or documenting the subtle details of nature. Its adaptability gives me creative freedom to explore different angles and perspectives, adding a unique visual depth to my conservation storytelling.
I also keep two classic action cameras in my bag: a DJI Osmo Action 1, which I use for capturing footage from moving vehicles like cars and boats, and a brand-new DJI Osmo Action 4. The latter is typically mounted on top of my primary camera, serving either to capture B-roll for educational content or as a supplementary camera for my main video productions.
The DJI Osmo Action 4 is an important addition to my video production toolkit, boasting a suite of features that make it indispensable for capturing high-quality, dynamic footage. One of its standout specs is the 4K resolution at 100 frames per second, which ensures that every frame of my videos is crisp and vibrant, capturing even the most subtle details of the natural world. The camera also offers excellent stabilization technology, which is crucial when filming in challenging or fast-paced environments. This ensures that my footage remains smooth and professional, regardless of the terrain or movement involved.
Furthermore, the Osmo Action 4 is designed with a rugged, waterproof build, allowing me to use it in a variety of outdoor settings without concern for the elements, be it a rainy day or a humid environment. This versatility is especially valuable in wildlife videography, where conditions can be unpredictable. Additionally, its user-friendly interface and quick-switch feature between modes streamline my filming process, enabling me to capture spontaneous moments without fumbling with settings.
The combination of these features makes the DJI Osmo Action 4 not just a camera but a reliable partner in my video productions. Whether I’m capturing the serene beauty of a landscape or the intricate behaviors of wildlife, this camera ensures that my vision is translated into stunning, high-quality footage, contributing significantly to the impact and professionalism of my work.
