As a wildlife photographer and cinematographer, my work has taken me to some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes. But few places captivate me like wetlands (especially lake Kerkni in Northern Greece).
These dynamic ecosystems—lakes, estuaries, lagoons—are teeming with life, playing a crucial role in biodiversity, climate regulation, and water purification.
Yet, these vital ecosystems are vanishing at an alarming rate. Pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change are driving them to the edge. This year, I created my annual special video for World Wetlands Day in collaboration with Action for Wildlife.
This video is more than just a tribute to the importance of wetlands—it is a homage to the incredible people at Action for Wildlife and other organizations who work tirelessly to protect these ecosystems and rescue the animals that depend on them. Their efforts ensure that both we and future generations can continue to witness and appreciate the beauty and life wetlands sustain.
Why This Matters
As a storyteller, I believe in the power of images. They make us see, feel, and connect. Through this film, I hope to inspire more people to appreciate wetlands—not just as scenic landscapes, but as critical lifelines for wildlife and humanity.
Apart from showcasing the incredible wildlife that thrives in wetlands, the video also features the rehabilitation of ducks and swans that were cared for by Action for Wildlife in 2024. After receiving the necessary treatment and care, these beautiful birds were successfully released back into their natural habitat, healthy and free.
Watch the Video & Take Action
This World Wetlands Day, I invite you to watch the video, share it, and join the effort to protect these irreplaceable ecosystems. The more we understand their value, the more we can fight for their future.
