Why Madzharovo?
Where wild encounters come close.
Madzharovo is a remote sanctuary of cliffs, river valleys and exceptional birdlife in the Eastern Rhodopes.
The hide offers the chance to photograph vultures and other significant birds at close range while respecting their natural behaviour.
Golden jackals and foxes may also appear. Nothing is staged: the experience follows the rhythm of a living landscape and rewards patience, observation and preparation.
Inside the hide
Close to the action. Invisible to the wild.
We spend two full days inside a comfortable, well-equipped photography hide, ready before the first activity and remaining patient as the scene develops naturally.
I work beside you on settings, technique and visual decisions. After each session, we review the results and explore post-processing in Lightroom, Photoshop and Luminar, with DaVinci Resolve guidance for anyone working with motion.

Prepare for the hide
What to bring.
The best hide sessions begin with quiet preparation. Use these lists while planning your workshop.
Recommended photography gear
- DSLR or mirrorless camera; animal-eye autofocus, fast burst and a tilting screen are strongly recommended.
- Normal 24–70mm lens and a telephoto lens; a 150–600mm is ideal.
- ND filters, tripod and large-capacity memory cards.
- Laptop and at least 1TB of storage or an external drive for backups.
Clothing and additional gear
Spring mornings in Madzharovo can be cold. Dress in adjustable layers and bring:
- Waterproof warm pants and waterproof jacket.
- Thermal fleece layers, socks and underwear.
- Waterproof boots, hat, gloves and scarf.
- A headlamp for early starts.
